What is arKIDect?

arKiDect teaches a way of thinking to kids. Lasting learning occurs through play and carefully planned project work. Through arKiDect, every child is learning new problem-solving skills not only about architecture and environment but in other areas where they can apply these skills as well. Children are getting more connected with the world and learning new problem-solving skills. Kids can recognize the qualities of good design and the value of a well-designed piece of architecture. Therefore they can participate in the development of the 'built environment’’ in the future whatever their occupation is.

Gokce received her BA in Architecture and Landscape Architecture from Istanbul Technical University. During her professional career, Gokce worked on several major design projects of different scales including green roofs, During that time she observed kids playing in the natural environment and it gave her an idea.

She founded arKiDect in 2010, School of Architecture for Kids where kids discover and learn about architecture.
